Dear Friends,
In the recent months, the world has changed in many ways, making it much harder for articles which are advocating for the Jewish and Israeli side to be published in respected journals and the media. The antisemitic and anti-Zionist sentiments in many professional organizations have been so openly displayed that many of us felt the need to create Jewish organizations where we will feel the strength of each other.
Psychologists in the American Psychological Association created a group. the Association of Jewish Psychologists, of which I have been a member for its inception. We also publish our own journal, named “Kesher” (Hebrew for “Connection”), and I am happy to make the first issue available here for you to enjoy. With my colleague Dr. Jenni Frumer, I have published a paper in this first issue, parts of which I discussed in my recent presentation at the World Federation of Jewish Holocaust Survivors and Descendants in Toronto this past weekend.
Please check out the articles in the new journal. To access the first issue click on the image below!
With warmest regards,
Irit
Thank you so much for all you add to the World Federation conference and all your efforts to support Holocaust survivors and descendants throughout the year. I wish you great success with the new organization and the new journal where you will be able to share your research and your experiences with all of us! Congratulations!
Dear Isabel! Thank you so much! It was wonderful spending time with you at the annual gathering! I will stay in touch to forward the action we need to take regarding the outrageous speech we heard from the Polish ambassador , and I send you warmest regards,
Irit
Thank you for making this available
With great pleasure, Ruth. It is one of the ways in which we respond to the silencing and the exclusion that is taking place in all professional spheres. We must make our voice heard.
Irit
You are such a light, Irit! Kol hakavod. I can’t wait to read it and thanks for sharing.
Thank you so much, Zohara!
Please encourage all Jewish psychologists you know to join the AJP, there is tremendous antisemitism in the APA, and we can only have strength as a collective, strong group!
Irit
I am sending a painting I did quite a while ago, but it expresses my emotional response to October 7. I will send it as an attachment to an email.
Thank you, I am looking forward to seeing it!
Irit
What a perfect solution, although sad that it’s needed. Although I wasn’t around during the time, it reminds me of a similar situation after the Holocaust when Jewish doctors could not work in US hospitals, so they developed their own Jewish hospitals. Those later became some of the best and most respected hospitals. May that be the same for your new magazine.
Thank you very much, Bonnie!
