On Monday February 24, my good friend and colleague, Dr. Jenni Frumer, and I will host a day-long in-person workshop for 2G’s, in which we can all discuss our current challenges, both personal and collective. The workshop, which is sponsored by MorseLife Holocaust Learning Experience, will take place at the Boca Beach Jewish Center Chadad in Boca Raton, FLA, and will include both presentations and interactive small group discussions.
Sharing our concerns among ourselves has been shown to have an additional value, and 2G’s often express the feeling that others cannot quite ‘get’ the pervasive echo of our parents’ history in our reactions to events in our own life. In the recent time, in particular, there has been much to remind us of the trauma narratives of the past. Please feel free to let us know what your particular interests and challenges are, and we will be sure to address them at the workshop.
More information about the workshop, and the registration page, can be found by clicking on the image below.
Jenni and I are looking forward to seeing you with us!
Warmly,
Irit Felsen
Looking forward to see you on the 24th. I’m having an issue with how Jews are responding to the war on Israel and antisemitism on college campuses. Even among 2 G’s. Their hatred of Trump overshadows how it appears there is a strong relationship between Trump and Bibi. And also how executive orders against antisemitism is bring handled in the last two weeks on college campuses.
Maybe you don’t want to talk about politics but after what our parents went through I find myself very angry that many Jews don’t care about what happens with Jews here and abroad more than they hate trump.
I understand if you don’t want to talk about this but it is very troubling to me. .
Dear Giselle,
I hear your pain. I hope that we can speak with each other about all the issues that are on our minds and hearts at this time. We are living through difficult times, and the value of being among 2G’s is that we can discuss things, even differences among Jews or among us, from that perspective of a shared background and shared motivations rooted in the unique legacy of our parents.
I am sure it can be a supportive and meaningful space.
Warmly,
Irit
