The Trauma Working Group of the NGO Committee on Mental Health in Consultative Relationship to the United Nations, of which I am the co-convener, will present its annual program this year focusing on: “Trauma-Informed Mental Health Care in a Shifting Socio-Political Environment”. The program will include:

Carol Tosone, PhD, LCSW from NYU, presenting about teaching clinicians to be trauma-informed,

Dana Alonzo, PHD, who heads suicide research at Fordham University, presenting about her work, and

Sepi Djavaheri, MA, Community Mobilizer at UJA-Federation of New York, who has a diverse portfolio of social impact work, and who will discuss the program she developed for an insular immigrant community with unaddressed trauma who are impacted by the current socio-political climate.

The program will take place between 2:00-4:00pm on Thurs. Feb. 27 at the Baha’i International Community Center, 866 United Nations Plaza, New York, NY 10017.

The Program is open to the public, but reservations are needed by Tuesday February 25, 2020 at 10:00am. To register, please RSVP to drhkshaw@gmail.com.
