Thursday January 27th marked International Holocaust Remembrance Day. I attended the commemoration ceremony held by the United Nations, which was held remotely this year. The moving event included remarks by the UN Secretary-General, the Permanent Representatives of Israel and the United States, Dr. Petra Gelbart, granddaughter of Romani Holocaust survivors, and Elisha Wiesel, son of Holocaust survivors Marion and Elie Wiesel. The ceremony also included testimonies from Holocaust survivors from Canada, Israel, South Africa and the United States. You can find the program for the UN ceremony at this link and watch the videorecording of the ceremony here.
On this occasion, I share with you below an amazing and inspirational TedTalk by Eddie Jaku, a 99-year old survivor of the Holocaust. He is an incredible man, an incredible spirit. Having been through the seven gates of hell on earth, he gives us his message, and how it is that after all he had experienced, he woke up each day a happy man. An incredible man, an incredible message. You can watch the video of Eddie’s TedTalk by clicking on the image below.
