screen-shot-2017-01-30-at-7-45-02-pmThe relationships between survivor parents and their children have by now been the subject of hundreds of studies and clinical reports. It has been shown that children of survivors have grown up with unique concerns related to their parents’ suffering and with an over-arching need to protect their parents from further pain. Aging, physical and cognitive impairment, chronic conditions that cause pain, all place a tremendous burden on the aging survivors, and also on their children, as they are unable to protect the parents from inevitable decline which is sometimes accompanied by physical and psychological pain.

The program of the event will include three parts:

I will present the keynote address, entitled “A Caregiver’s Journey”. This will be followed by Dr. Kenneth A Verni, “Caring for self and others with mindfulness” and “Managing Challenging behaviors of Alzheimer’s/Dementia” will be discussesd by Allice Greeneberg- Sheedy, LSW.
