For those of you who did not have the possibility to join us in real time yesterday (Feb. 19/2026), a videorecording of the annual program of the Trauma Working Group in the NGO Committee on Mental Health in Consultative Relationship to the United Nations, which I had announced previously (see this blog post) is now available at this link.
As the chair of this UN-affiliated group, I put together the program, which was focused this year on Loss Through Suicide. The speakers I invited to join me were Adele Raemer and Deanna Finizio; Adele lost her husband through suicide in 2008, and she is also a survivor of the massacre on October 7 in Kibbutz Nirim, on the border of Gaza. Deanna is the Program Manager of the NJ chapter of the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention, and came to the foundation following the loss of her cousin through suicide.
This was a very meaningful program, and I hope people can share it with anyone who might be impacted by the suicide of a loved one, or anyone who wishes to know how to best support survivors of suicide.
