I heard about a documentary that might be of interest. I have seen only the trailer, but I will attend the screening of the documentary, “Afterward” by Ofra Bloch, on Friday January 10, 2020. More information about the film can be found by clicking the image below.
Ofra Bloch is Jeruslem-born, and she lives and works as a social worker and a trauma expert in NYC. This documentary, which has garnered much attention and praise from audiences as well as from critics, addresses important topics close to my heart, namely the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and the impact of Nazi German history on Holocaust survivors and their descendants. The documentary gives voice to the ways in which these cataclysmic historical and political realities have impacted the lives of all those who have been closely impacted by them, from all sides of the conflicts. The film documents the profound wounds that reverberate in the lives of all of those touched by the Holocaust as well as the Nakba, and raises questions about the possibility of learning from the past and coming to a reconciliation.
This documentary will be screened in NY for a week, from January 10th to January 16th. The screenings on Jan. 10 and Jan. 11 will be followed by a Q&A session with Director Ofra Bloch. For more information, and to order tickets, go to the link for the Village East Cinema.
