The Trauma Working Group is part of the Committee on Mental Health in Consultative Relationship to the United Nations. As chair of the Trauma Working Group, I chose to focus this year’s annual program on Loss Through Suicide, one of the most complex and tragic types of loss. I am following up on my previous “save-the-date” post (see this link), to provide additional details about the program, as well as instructions on how to register.
The program will take place from 2-4 pm EST on Thursday February 19, and will take place over Zoom. Our speakers, Adele Raemer and Deanna Finizio, have been each impacted by suicide of a loved one. Each of them has become active in the important effort of raising awareness of suicide risk and suicide prevention, as well as the need to help family and friends learn about and access resources for support of those left behind after the suicide of a loved one.
